Senior Backend Engineer who thrives on solving complex problems, building scalable systems, and contributing to critical architectural decisions. Key Responsibilities
- Design, build, and maintain robust, scalable, and performant backend systems and APIs.
- Architect solutions with a focus on security, reliability, maintainability, and performance.
- Collaborate with cross-functional teams including Product, Frontend, DevOps, and QA to deliver high-impact features.
- Own the end-to-end development lifecycle of backend features — from concept to deployment and monitoring.
- Contribute to and uphold best practices in code quality, testing, and deployment.
- Review code, mentor team members, and help shape engineering culture.
- Continuously evaluate and integrate new technologies and tools when appropriate.
- Help troubleshoot production issues and improve system observability and resilience.
Skills & Attributes
Required
- 5+ years of professional experience as a backend or full-stack engineer.
- Strong understanding of core software engineering principles: system design, algorithms, data structures, and distributed systems.
- Experience designing and building APIs (RESTful, GraphQL, etc.) and backend services at scale.
- Solid understanding of relational and non-relational databases and experience with schema design,
indexing, and query optimization.
- Experience with testing strategies (unit, integration, performance) and CI/CD practices.
- Proficient in writing clean, maintainable, and efficient code — regardless of language.
- Excellent problem-solving and debugging skills.
- Comfortable working in an agile, collaborative, and iterative environment.
- Quick learner with a flexible mindset and the ability to adapt to new tools, languages, or paradigms.
Nice To Have
- Experience with multiple programming languages and paradigms (e.g., OOP, functional).
- Familiarity with cloud-native architecture, containerization, and infrastructure-as-code.
- Experience in observability, monitoring, and logging best practices.
- Exposure to event-driven systems or streaming platforms.
- Mentorship or technical leadership experience is a plus.
