Role Description The Chef Accountant at Wajeez وجيز is a full-time, on-site role based in Amman, Jordan. This role oversees the company’s financial accounting operations, including managing the general ledger, supervising bookkeeping, and ensuring accurate and timely month-end and year-end closing. The Chef Accountant prepares financial statements and management reports, monitors cash flow, and supports budgeting, forecasting, and cost control activities. Daily responsibilities include reviewing transactions, reconciling accounts, ensuring compliance with relevant accounting standards and local regulations, and coordinating with external auditors and tax advisors. The role also involves improving internal financial processes, supporting strategic decision-making with data-driven insights, and collaborating with other departments on financial matters.
Qualifications
- Strong knowledge of accounting principles, financial reporting, and local tax regulations, with experience managing general ledger, reconciliations, and closing processes.
- Competence in budgeting, forecasting, and financial analysis to support cost management and strategic planning.
- Proficiency in accounting software and ERP systems, as well as solid skills in Excel and other financial tools.
- Attention to detail, analytical thinking, and the ability to identify discrepancies and improve financial controls.
- Effective communication and collaboration skills, with the ability to work cross-functionally and present financial information clearly to non-finance colleagues.
- Demonstrated ability to work on-site in a fast-paced environment, manage multiple priorities, and meet strict deadlines.
- Bachelor’s degree in Accounting, Finance, or a related field; professional certifications (e.g., CPA, CMA) are an advantage.
- Previous experience in a senior accounting or Chef Accountant role, preferably within tech, media, or similar growth-oriented industries.
