Islamic Relief Jordan is a country branch of Islamic Relief Worldwide. Islamic Relief Worldwide is an internationally recognized charity, looking back on nearly 40 years of experience in humanitarian and developmental aid. It was founded in 1984 in Birmingham, UK, in response to the devastating famine in the Horn of Africa. Since then, Islamic Relief has grown into a charity that is active worldwide, putting development projects, emergency aid, and rebuilding projects into action in over 28 countries around the world.
Islamic Relief Jordan (IRJ) began its operations in 1997 with orphan’s sponsorship, sponsoring hundreds of orphans living in Jordan. IRJ extended its programs to seasonal projects with Ramadan and Qurbani distributions and In-Kind donations. IRJ has established strong partnership with international non-governmental organization and local one’s strengthening the overall response to the Syria crisis. At the onset of Syria humanitarian crisis in late 2011, IRJ provided emergency response to those affected by violence in Syria and has since then scaled up its capacity and operations with number of 70 staff across the country.
The health department has successfully introduced interventions in multi-component projects providing primary, secondary and tertiary health care services. The department also provides medical assistive equipment, health awareness sessions, and dialysis support

Islamic Relief Jordan country office is seeking to hire the following position:
Medical doctors to work in the IRJ clinics in the north of Jordan under the overall guidance of the health coordinator.
Major Responsibilities:
The Medical Doctor will be responsible for:
Implementation of clinical care for fixed /mobile clinic activities in cooperation with pharmacists, field officers, and officers
Implement primary health care activities and provide relevant medications to rightsholders in the targeted locations with the project team
Providing technical support to the team including other medical doctors, pharmacists, and field officers to ensure quality health services
Referral of cases for secondary and tertiary care and performing home visits and follow-up
Responsible for the identification of case studies, interviewing, and writing their stories to be shared with donors
Provide health awareness sessions as needed for the rightsholders and staff as needed and requested.
Support IRJ clinics in the north of Jordan where/when needed
Performing other related duties as may be assigned.
Core humanitarian competencies:
Understanding of Islamic relief values and principles.
Good understanding of humanitarian issues, with experience of/or ability to work directly with NGOs, CBO’s and communities.
Demonstrated experience of integrated gender and diversity into humanitarian response programs.
The ability to remain calm while dealing with conflicting priorities and working under pressure.
Operating safely and securely in humanitarian response.
Qualification:
Registered medical doctor (M.D., B.S degree) with a minimum of 2 years of experience (including 1-year internship) in primary health care settings and clinic management. NGO Experience is preferable.
Adaptable, flexible, and mature in judgment.
Has the ability and motivation to travel and work in remote areas.
Strong commitment to medical ethics, patient confidentiality, and effective health education and communication techniques.
Strong communication, listening, and documentation skills.
Languages:
Very good in spoken and written English.
Fluency in spoken and written Arabic
