About the Role:
This is a key position within Waldom Electronics, reporting to our Director of Data. As the Senior Power BI Developer, you’ll take ownership of our business intelligence reporting, with a strong focus on scalable data modeling and impactful dashboards. You’ll play an active role in shaping Waldom’s reporting environment within Microsoft Fabric, working with stakeholders to ensure our data tools meet real business needs. Your models and reports will be critical in helping teams across the company make informed decisions, backed by reliable and well-structured data. This role combines deep technical skills with cross-functional collaboration—ideal for someone who wants to see their work directly influence how a business runs.
What You’ll Do:
- Design, build, and maintain scalable Power BI dashboards and reports
- Develop and maintain strong tabular data models with a focus on performance and usability
- Define, implement, and monitor KPIs that align with business goals
- Write DAX calculations and Power Query (M) logic to meet reporting needs
- Use SQL to prepare, clean, and transform source data
- Create and manage relationships, hierarchies, and calculations within Power BI datasets
- Document your models, logic, and visual choices clearly and consistently
- Contribute to the structure and rollout of our reporting environment in Microsoft Fabric
- Collaborate with stakeholders to translate reporting requirements into usable, effective dashboards
- Work with the data engineering team to improve and troubleshoot data flows feeding into reports
- Analyze existing BI assets and modernize or redesign them for clarity, performance, and scalability
- Support data quality and governance standards in all reporting work Guide and support junior developers when needed
What You’ll Need:
- Bachelor’s degree in Data Science, Computer Science, or similar (or equivalent practical experience)
- 5+ years of experience in business intelligence or analytics roles
- 3+ years of hands-on Power BI development experience
- Strong experience with DAX and Power Query (M)
- High proficiency in SQL for querying and transforming data
- Extensive experience with data modeling concepts and best practices (Kimball experience preferred)
- Comfortable working with tabular models and creating relationships, hierarchies, and custom measures
- Strong communication skills with the ability to explain your work to both technical and non-technical audiences
- Experience documenting BI solutions and decision logic
